Afghan Supplementary School

This term sees the arrival of Afghan Council UK’s new supplementary school. A registration day for classes was held in early September at Lillie Road’s Bishop Creighton House. Eager parents and children were greeted by Faqir Mayvand, (Director of Afghan Council UK). Mr Mayvand presented the school’s uniform T-shirt printed with the organisation’s logo, along with language course books for Dari, Pashto, English, Maths and Art. The school has started with 50 students so far. Overall it has been a great achievement, and still an on going process.

Director of Afghan Council UK- a few words from Mr Mayvand on the day of the registration:

"Opening such a school not only teaches children Dari and Pashto, along with extra tuition on school subjects, however it also involves teaching kids how to behave socially as well as book knowledge so that they can build upon that knowledge with either more schooling or in whatever lifestyle or occupation they choose".
