Cardiff City Conference 2011

Project is for 675 Afghan Youth in Cardiff City:
• 2 youth workshops
• youth Conference
• and finally meet with Afghan youth centre team Cardiff
There are a few issues which came out from workshops. They are listed below:
1. The young people in the Afghan community who can legally be in Wales but cannot, due to visa issues, get to study or be able to work.
2. Due to this lack of education and ability to work, they are becoming involved in drugs and gangs.
3. Shoplifting is on the rise among young minorities due to the fact that they cannot work or study.

After discussing in depth with many of the young Afghan people in Cardiff, they told us that these negative impacts on society would be drastically reduced if they were given opportunities to have a positive impact. Without education or the ability to work, this is simply not possible. Majority of afghan youth we have discussed with in Cardiff, living without their parents and family.
